Appleby: With the full name Appleby-in-Westmorland, the small town of Appleby is located in the county of Cumbria in north-west England, and stands on a loop of the River Eden in the pretty Eden Valley district of the county.

Famous for its annual Horse Fair, which takes place in June, Appleby has a population of around 2,500 and relies mostly on tourism for its economic survival.

Overlooked by Appleby Castle, former home of Lady Anne Clifford, Appleby is a charming and peaceful town.
