Luton is a town and district within the county of Bedfordshire and is located some 32 miles north of London, it has a population of around 203,000. A university town, Luton was for many years well known for its hat making industry, though its biggest employer in recent decades has been the Vauxhall Motors factory, which began production in 1905. Mentioned in the Domesday Book as Lintone, it probably developed as a Saxon community during the 6th century.

Luton is reached via the M1, the A6 and the A505, it is 5 miles from Dunstable, 25 miles from Bedford and 34 miles from London.
