Wisbech: A town standing on the River Nene in Cambridgeshire, Wisbech is famous for its fruit trees and its bulbs, which are produced in huge quantities in the area. The town boasts some fine Georgian houses, many of which face the river and quay, providing an attractive riverside vista. A fine example of its architecture is Peckover House (National Trust), which was built in 1722.

At one time only 4 miles from the sea, Wisbech is now about 12 miles away, due to the effect of the draining of the Fens during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Wisbech today has a population of around 20,000, it is twinned with Arles in France.

Wisbech can be reached via the A47 and the A1101, it is about 22 miles from Peterborough, 39 miles from Cambridge, and a driving distance of 107 miles from London.
