A hugely popular tourist destinaton standing on the River Avon, in the county of Warwickshire, Stratford-Upon-Avon is famous as the birthplace of poet and playwright William Shakespeare, it has a population of around 25,000 and a history going back to Anglo-Saxon times, it has been a market town since first receiving its charter in the 12th century.
