An industrial town located in the North Northants region of Northamptonshire, Corby has a population of around 50,000 and history going back to the Bronze Age, its first permanent settlers were Danish and it was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was recorded as Corbei. Corby has held a weekly market since 1226, and its iron ore industry dates from Roman times. The 20th century saw huge growth due to the production of steel in the town.
