Portreath is a small fishing port situated to the north of Camborne in Cornwall, it has a population of just over 1,000 and was first mentioned in 1485, it was formerly a significant port for shipping copper ore. The name Portreath derives from the Cornish for "sandy cove", these days it is a popular holiday destination with an attractive sandy beach, it is also a good location for surfing.
