Situated just 6 miles south of Saint Austell, the small fishing village of Mevagissey is now more reliant on its tourism industry than its traditional fishing. Nestled in a small valley facing Mevagissey Bay, the village was probably settled as long ago as the Bronze Age, though the first mention of it was in the 14th century when its was known as Porthhilly.

While in Mevagissey visit the Mevagissey Model Railway, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Mevagissey Museum.

Mevagissey can be reached via the B3273, it is 5.5 miles from St Austell, and 80 miles from Exeter.
